Jon Ossoff for president, please!!!
Georgia senator captures the essence of modern MAGA in campaign speech
If you are thinking about who the Democrats should look to in the 2028 presidential contest, watch this video.
Wow! I have never seen such a devastating dismemberment of Trump and his MAGA movement. Here it is from YouTube. It’s a bit long, but it is a compelling indictment, start to finish. I was captured from the first word to the last. Great speech!
This guy mirrors my own anger, frustration, and disappointment in America’s lightning-quick fall into authoritarianism, but he also captures that flicker of hope, the pilot light for America’s liberty forge, that is our Constitution and, more importantly, all of us, defiant believers in America’s promise to the world. It’s all there in Ossoff’s rousing rally speech last night in Atlanta. Boy, does he ever have the chops to pull us all up out of this MAGA pit.
In this speech, Ossoff came up with the perfect characterization of the Trump junta and its supporters, “The Epstein Class.”
I’ve already heard Democratic leaders using that new moniker in public addresses. Perfect! Let’s hammer this label on Trump and his junta thugs again and again, in every conversation we have about the current administration, in every email or social media post, until it is indelibly imprinted on every voter’s consciousness.
Why is it perfect? Because Epstein Class captures the whole cancerous mess of a loathsome sense of privilege, corruption, moral depravity, and immunity from the rule of law that is the leadership of Trump’s MAGA movement. Every voter will know what the two words Epstien Class mean. It is, quite simply, perfect!
Look at this guy! Ossoff is a young, good-looking, liberal (not socialist), obviously very articulate, and very charismatic, and a family man, who carried a very red state in a special and regular election. And he is free of the baggage Gavin Newsom carries inevitably by being the sitting governor of “left coast” California.
Instead, Ossoff is from Atlanta, which he correctly called last night the cradle of America’s civil rights movement. Pitch perfect!
Oh my God, I hope someone in the Democratic Party’s candidate search leadership is talking to Ossoff about the possibility of running for president next year. This needs to happen now!
Seriously. I listened to this address and came away fired up and hungry to learn more about his ideas for the agenda of this country post-Trump. Jon Ossoff just might have emerged last night as the right guy at the right time. Think about it.
To me, this speech is on a par with then Senator Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention keynote speech in 2004. It is a clear-eyed point of departure from the politics of today, the politics of hate and fear, to a return to the politics of hope and promise, you know, something like “Make America Good Again.” I bet his campaign could have access to lots of discounted hats with this new message from a warehouse in Florida.
Sign me up for the Ossoff for President campaign!

“At his “Rally for Our Republic” in Atlanta, Ossoff did something Democrats have too often hesitated to do: he spoke with moral clarity. Not with euphemism. Not with hedging. Not with the weary language of “both sides.” He called the chaos what it is. He called the corruption what it is. And he named the power structure propping it up — the “Epstein class” — without blinking.” • @Jon Ossoffhttps://robertfields39.substack.com/p/this-is-not-a-moment-for-fear
Personally, I think using socialism fear as a factor in choosing a presidential candidate would be a disaster we have already experienced. The Dem elite joined with the republicans in using that tactic against Bernie and it FAILED. They ended up having to use a completely different scheme-getting all the other candidates to drop out and endorse the old guy who wasn't even in the debate. They had to because Bernies crowd was $5.00 at a time getting him all the money he needed to be eligible by the democrat policies. And why did the guy who was not taking money from PACs have that many people filling his campaign coffer with small donations? Because they all want universal healthcare and he was the only candidate ready to fight for it. All the other candidates were dodging it. deriding him as a socialist. Likely because of the PAC money they were/are getting. In this climate, the people are more than pissed off and not just with trump but with the system that spawned him. They're tired of the "socialist" slurs and can see right through it. The next candidate had better be ready to seriously push for universal healthcare, against funding Israel, start standing up for democratic socialism and be ready to get his/her campaign money from the people. An My god protect the DNC if they try to pull another stunt like the last time! My opinion for what it's worth.
